Beechdean Motorsport on British GT podium for Andrew Howard’s final race!

Andrew Howard brought the curtain down on an illustrious motor racing career with a podium finish alongside Beechdean Motorsport team-mate Ross Gunn at the British GT Championship finale at Brands Hatch.

The Beechdean Motorsport driver, who announced several weeks ago that his 28-year racing career would come to an end at the conclusion of the season, finished third in the GT3 Pro-Am category with Ross aboard their Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

It capped off a special weekend that featured a one-off livery celebrating Andrew’s achievements behind the wheel, and included many special guests, including former Beechdean Motorsport racer and ‘Great British Bake-Off’ star Paul Hollywood – who took on ‘grid boy’ duties.

That result was ground out of relentless driving by both two-time British GT Champion Andrew and his Aston Martin works driver team-mate Ross.

Starting fifth in Pro-Am and eighth overall after an incident-filled qualifying session that included contact with a tyre barrier by Ross, Andrew made a sensible start and settled into a rhythm early on.

He remained eighth overall as the mandatory pitstops approached and Ross, once aboard, improved that position. He was able to move into the Pro-Am podium spots with 20 minutes left and took the chequered flag third in class and fifth overall.

Andrew and Ross’s sixth Pro-Am podium of 2026 meant they finished third in the standings. They were also fifth in the overall points table.

Andrew Howard said: “I couldn’t have asked for a more fitting finish. To be on the podium for my final race, and with Ross and I having coaxed a strong result from the car, feels pretty good. Even more than that, having my family and friends here at Brands Hatch, my team – featuring so many lads that have been with us for years and years – and the generosity of the British GT Championship this weekend with all the nice things they’ve said and done… just a brilliant weekend. As far as driving goes, I feel ready to stop. As far as what’s next, I’m very excited.”
